Olympus Triples Investment in Venture Capital to Strengthen Leadership in MedTech
Olympus Corporation (hereinafter, Olympus) announced that it has launched a new fund, "Olympus Innovation Ventures Fund II," and will make an additional investment in its corporate venture capital fund, Olympus Innovation Ventures, LLC (hereinafter, OIV). Building on the success of the initial fund, Olympus will invest a total of $150 million (approximately ¥23.5 billion*) to advance investments in MedTech startups in the fields of gastroenterology, urology, and respiratory care.

It supports companies at all investment stages, with a focus on global companies from early to growth stages that provide treatment solutions for the targeted clinical areas. In addition to providing capital, Olympus will continue to support the growth of its portfolio companies by leveraging its clinical and technical expertise, access to healthcare professionals and institutions, and experience in developing and expanding innovative solutions in the global market. OIV focuses on investing in compelling entrepreneurs who are transforming healthcare solutions. The fund invests in customer-oriented solutions in the medical device, diagnostic, and digital health fields. Since its establishment in October 2021, OIV has made nine investments in areas such as AI workflow solutions and intraoperative imaging agents for cancer detection. The fund will continue to be managed with the support of Cerity Partners Ventures (hereinafter, Cerity) in the United States, which has extensive expertise in corporate venture capital. The firm will work closely with Olympus management, collaborating in all aspects of fund management.
